Appendix B — Descriptor Library
This is an inspiration library for building and revising structured prompts. Browse it when an idea needs a more precise musical responsibility: a bass that moves differently, a vocal that performs differently, a clearer rhythmic constraint, or a stronger emotional direction.
“Expected effect” describes the musical image a phrase suggests to me. It is not a measurement of Suno’s internal behaviour. Confidence describes how legible or repeatedly useful that association has been in this prompt set—not whether the descriptor will produce the same result every time.
How to use the library
Section titled “How to use the library”- Begin with the responsibility that is missing from the prompt.
- Browse the relevant category rather than scanning for impressive-sounding words.
- Check the notes for useful combinations or likely tensions.
- Add the smallest change that addresses the problem.
- Listen before adding anything else.
Useful starting points:
- Genre, identity and influence
- Bass
- Melody, harmony and synth voice
- Texture and sound design
- Rhythm, drums and priority
- Vocals
- Motion, mood, mix and structure
- High-value combinations
- Known semantic tensions
- Extended vocabulary

Known semantic tensions
Section titled “Known semantic tensions”| Combination | Potential tension | Suggested resolution |
|---|---|---|
| Dream Haze + Crisp Breaks | Diffuse texture can obscure transient clarity. | Put haze under Textures and crispness under Drums; use Priority only for the more important property. |
| Equal Influence + strong Cover Anchor | Equal genre weighting may weaken preservation of the source’s defining feature. | Replace Equal Influence with an explicit Anchor priority when preservation matters more. |
| Sudden Silence + Continuous Forward Motion | Hard gaps can conflict with uninterrupted momentum. | Treat silence as a brief transition, not a structural stall. |
| Tape Flutter + Crystal Detail | Degradation and pristine detail pull in opposite directions. | Assign them to different layers or sections. |
| Constant Flow + Double Drop | Continuous flow can blur drop contrast. | Use long crescendos and short transitional FX to articulate the drops without halting motion. |
