The original Flowstate In Yellow immediately captured me with that vocal melody. It had quite a spacious ambient feel, but a lovely liquid flow I knew I could work with. Unlike Foggy Hearts, I did not try to do this with a direct cover. I separated the work into two tracks: one to carry the melody and atmosphere, and another to carry movement, momentum and tension.
The original was made in Suno Studio, so its prompt was not publicly visible. Its displayed style tags were Plunderphonics, Liquid Funk and Ambient Turntablism.
That vocal melody hooked me immediately. I wanted to keep it, but I felt the arrangement needed more space underneath and more momentum in the groove. I thought a fun way to do that would be a Psychedelic Drum and Bass × Slushwave cover.
The workflow

Build the melodic Anchor and Kinetic Engine independently, assemble their musical ideas through Mashup, then use Cover to unify the result.
The diagram shows the successful route using Neon Static. Neon Horizon, the first Kinetic Engine attempt that led to that revision, appears in the detailed steps below.
The intermediate tracks were not failed attempts at the final song. Each was built to do one job clearly.
1. Build the melodic Anchor

This became Dissolved Memory, the Anchor track. It retained the melody and phrasing that had caught my attention in the original, while the Slushwave treatment gave them more width and room to breathe.

The prompt deliberately avoided a driving groove. That was not an omission to fix later; rhythm belonged to a different intermediate track.
2. Build the Kinetic Engine
Section titled “2. Build the Kinetic Engine”Next, I generated a new Psychedelic Drum and Bass track from scratch. Its job was to supply the Kinetic Engine: bass, rhythm, drums, pacing, momentum and tension.
This prompt had to be more specific to drive into the model exactly what I was after.

This first Kinetic Engine attempt became Neon Horizon.

The original song was in D minor, so I kept the Kinetic Engine in the same key. The two tracks were being created separately, but they still needed to be melodically compatible when they met.
Neon Horizon was structurally sound, but it did not feel right for this song. It leaned towards a familiar Liquid Drum and Bass shape when I wanted something stranger and more psychedelic.
3. Make the Kinetic Engine less comfortable
Section titled “3. Make the Kinetic Engine less comfortable”The revision changed the character of the generated track without changing its responsibility. Genre, tempo and key remained fixed so the two versions stayed comparable; every highlighted performance field was rewritten around instability, altered motion and psychedelic texture.
Highlighted values replaced the more comfortable Liquid Drum and Bass language used by Neon Horizon.

The revision replaced comfortable liquid language with instability and altered motion:

This version became Neon Static, the Kinetic Engine I wanted. It still protected full-time momentum with Never halftime, but the route through that momentum became less predictable.

4. Use Mashup as assembly
Section titled “4. Use Mashup as assembly”I then made a Mashup from the Slushwave Anchor and the revised Psychedelic Drum and Bass Kinetic Engine.
There was no style prompt. Audio Influence was set to 50%.
At this stage I was not asking Suno to decide what the finished hybrid should sound like. I wanted one audio source containing the ingredients I had built separately:
- the original melody and phrasing;
- Slushwave space and width;
- Psychedelic Drum and Bass momentum;
- the textures and tonal colour of both tracks.
The Mashup was a construction step. Its job was to gather content, not provide the final cohesion.

The final Psyslush mix prompt gave the model a coherent language for the whole track now that the two halves were together. The result still felt connected to WryCrossfader’s original track, but heard through a Psy-Slush lens: the melody remained central, the Slushwave layer supplied space, and the Psychedelic Drum and Bass layer supplied momentum.

Workflow principles
Section titled “Workflow principles”This project uses a very different workflow from a direct Cover:
- A source can provide an Anchor even when its original prompt is unavailable.
- The Anchor track and Kinetic Engine do not need to resemble the final song on their own.
- Key compatibility can be designed before the tracks are combined.
- Revising a scaffold is easier when it has one clear responsibility.
- Mashup can assemble musical content without being asked to solve the final style.
- A final Cover can turn that composite source into a cohesive genre fusion.
The process worked because no single prompt had to invent the melody, create space, establish the groove and unify the styles all at once. Those responsibilities were separated, solved and then recombined.
